I am posting from Windows today, because my Linux laptop is updating to the new stuff.

I know this pic has nothing to do with my comment.

Y’all don’t care anyway, amirite??

Have a great HUMP day πŸ˜‰

I like it when you post from Windows.

You like it when women disrobe on or in front of Windows.

What’s supposedly so great about Linux?

  4. Jay in Ames November 28, 2012 at 12:12 pm #

    It’s free.

Lots of open source applications for it.

Not as many viruses written for it.

Open architecture of the operating system, so it can be readily improved upon.

Not as many evident security holes as windows

Smaller footprint, so it runs faster on slower equipment.

    Easy modification for special circumstances.

Base operating system is very stable (UNIX, also the core of Mac OS).

Better use of multiple core applications.

Linux is awesome for older computers. This laptop is 7 years old, and Linux runs faster than Windows on it.

    Also, back on my Linux!

I may have to move more of my servers to Windows…no, sorry…even with the goodies, Linux works for me…I pay them dudes in Redmond enough already.

I was reluctant to go to Linux at first. Now I can’t do without it.

I am converting an old laptop to Linux this weekend. New life for old equipment! Now I will have internet in the kitchen, for cooking.

OMG!!! It will be like having a cookbook stand, only way cooler πŸ˜€

I just have to decide which distro to go with. I’m think Ubuntu.

In the future, I’m gonna mount it upside down under the cabinet, and invert the display, and use a separate keyboard. That way it can just swing down, and be out of the way the rest of the time.

Either that or on the counter, so I can move it around.

Counter. Trust me. I had a DVD player under the cabinet and it became a PITA.

      Also, Ubuntu.

If you aren’t reading The Last Man by Vince Flynn, you should be. Very exciting story, and I’m only 1/2 way through it.
