Mr. TiFW caught the cold that I had last week, and will be staying home from work today.

    Joy.

  3. LC Aggie Sith September 20, 2011 at 8:50 am #

That means you get to wait on him hand and foot, right?

    I feel for you….

  4. Jay in Ames September 20, 2011 at 8:59 am #

What’s wrong with his hands and feet? I thought he had a cold.

So good, it should be required reading for all politicians:

“Live and let live,” is at the heart of negative rights. But positive rights are based on, “Let’s discuss what you need to do to change.”

    ****************

The fundamental difference between a free society and a nanny state, is that in a free society, negative rights are maximized between the individual and the government, and the individual and other individuals. In a nanny state, positive rights are maximized between the individual and the government, and both positive and negative rights are maximized between the individual and other individuals.

Where David Brooks wakes up. See if you can see at what point the light bulb goes off.

Too late, idiot boy. See what you’ve been carrying water for?

  7. LC Aggie Sith September 20, 2011 at 9:23 am #

Heh, Brooks is a useful idiot.

The president is sounding like the Al Gore for President campaign, but without the earth tones.

That right there is funny, though 😀

  8. Car in September 20, 2011 at 9:30 am #

Sorry. I was off selecting tv programing for my kids to watch today.

    WAKEY WAKEY.

    *glares at Aggie anyway

  9. Car in September 20, 2011 at 9:30 am #

David brooks is an idiot. Is that link to his “I’m a sap” piece?

  10. Jay in Ames September 20, 2011 at 9:36 am #

Yes, Car in. You can taste his tears of disappointment.

  11. LC Aggie Sith September 20, 2011 at 9:38 am #

Taste?? Hell! You can bathe in them.

    But I wouldn’t recommend that.

By the way, if you aren’t following http://twitter.com/RandallHoven, do it. He’s a great source.

My last 2 poats have been information from him. The really good facty fact stuff.

An early copy of the 2012 State of the Union Address has been found:

So while we could waste time arguing and debating and thinking for ourselves, I ask you to join with me. To stand by me as we Thrive the Future together. When we stand united doing whatever crazy idea comes into my head, there is no force on earth that can defeat us except reality. Healthier live snail lunch program for kids. We’re on it. Taxing all barbers at the highest possible rate. Done. More hair leads to less heating which leads to higher energy use, which isn’t something we need to worry about because it’s an Ice Age, not Global Warming, but we’re on it anyway. We’re on everything and under everything. We don’t know what we’re doing, but we’re doing it anyway. Together!

  14. Jay in Ames September 20, 2011 at 9:54 am #

    Heh, good stuff TiFW.

Is that a bell ringing? Time for more 7up and popsicles?

  15. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX September 20, 2011 at 9:54 am #

That means you get to wait on him hand and foot, right?
    I feel for you….

Yeah – it’s funny, because he made the comment a while back that he always gets a little bit resentful when he gets sick and I’m not fully well, because I can’t take care of him. I told him I always get a little resentful when he gets sick when I’m not fully well, because then HE can’t take care of ME.

    We’re a pretty pair, aren’t we? 🙂

I read that David Brooks article last night – good God, that man sounds like a pathetic battered girlfriend.

I mean, seriously – you can tell from the tone of his article that he would take Barack back in a heartbeat if he just told him he loved him; never mind that Barack is never gonna change his ways. “He really means it THIS time…..”

What a snivelly little girl –

  17. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX September 20, 2011 at 9:59 am #

Is that a bell ringing? Time for more 7up and popsicles?

    This.

THIS is why men don’t want women to learn how to shoot a gun……

  18. Jay in Ames September 20, 2011 at 10:05 am #

David Brooks is the MFM’s perfect Republican: ineffectual and weak. No wonder they don’t like Cheney, or Palin.

  19. GuyS September 20, 2011 at 10:05 am #

    Morning all!

THIS is why men don’t want women to learn how to shoot a gun….

And I suppose peg leg comments without prior warning fall into this group too??

  20. GuyS September 20, 2011 at 10:08 am #

I still believe that the president’s soul would like to do something about the country’s structural problems

This is making a major assumption, that the President HAS a soul, to begin with.

How does this guy manage to dress himself?

  22. Jay in Ames September 20, 2011 at 11:18 am #

Can Michael Reagan win Feinstein’s seat, or am I correct in thinking we’re looking at another failed Fiorina?

  23. GuyS September 20, 2011 at 11:27 am #

I think Reagan has the brains/intellect for the job, I really wonder if he has the heart for it. Sadly, I don’t think the voter base will be strong enough for him to win, wrong neck of the woods and all. We are talking about the same state which re-elected Jerry Brown after all.

  24. GuyS September 20, 2011 at 11:41 am #

Kinda the last person I thought would go off the deep end.

    http://www.mrctv.org/blog/tony-bennett-we-caused-911-terrorist-attacks

Guess he left his brains and common sense in San Francisco, along with his heart.

  25. Car in September 20, 2011 at 11:44 am #

I guess Tony doesn’t care how many of his duets album he sells. He’s pimping hard to be admired by his colleagues. He’s rather win awards and get those asshats to perform with him.

    whateve.

  26. Jay in Ames September 20, 2011 at 11:57 am #

There comes a time when I think you’ve made enough money.

But that time never comes, when you’re talking about the adoration of your friends!

    –full context of Obama speech

  27. GuyS September 20, 2011 at 12:05 pm #

I will have made enough money, the day after I die!

IRT Obambi…is he suggesting the only reason he has friends who adore him is because he bought them off???

  28. GuyS September 20, 2011 at 12:38 pm #

Here is a bit of lighter, if not somewhat nostalgic, news.

    http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/09/20/search-for-apollo-10s-snoopy/

I hope they find the wayward beagle!

  29. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX September 20, 2011 at 12:41 pm #

Even the people he buys off eventually don’t want anything to do with him –

Narcissists tend to not have any long-time friends; the ones they do have are seriously damaged goods themselves.

He’s done; he just doesn’t realize it yet…..

  30. Jay in Ames September 20, 2011 at 12:50 pm #

I’ll believe it in November 2012.

Sorry I have been AWOL around here. Had some last minute projects around the house to do today before Hubby heads back tomorrow, and have Open House this evening at the kids’ high school, then last evening out with the family.

Tomorrow will be a looooong day….

  35. Stinky's Dad September 20, 2011 at 6:25 pm #

Try to get some sleep tonight, or not. And I bet you’re right about tomorrow.
