You moved HERE, you fucking twatwaffle. If Zakera doesn’t like our government, he can fuck himself with rusty machete and fucking go back to working his fucking call center in Mumbai (Bombay).

Goddammit, I hate foreigners who come here and insult the fabric of our fucking collective existence.

Exactly jazz. Everyone that wants to “fix” us seems to be from somewhere else. Yet here they are.

Quit trying to “fix” America, and get out of it’s way. Why can’t people see that?

  8. LC Aggie Sith June 2, 2011 at 9:51 am #

I don’t think it’s “fix America” so much as destroy it by change, J’Ames.

Which of these is not like the other?

[A] majority of Americans disapprove of Obama’s handling of Medicare (53%), taxes (53%), the economy (58%), health care policy (57%), the federal budget deficit (64%), and gas prices (73%).

    http://tinyurl.com/4yupwb7

Following the extra 21st chromosomes in this story would be like following Alice down the rabbit hole.

Gas prices are a function of the private sector and the open market. The President doesn’t “handle” gas prices. For that matter, he doesn’t handle taxes or the budget deficit, either, although he can suggest the policies he desires. Taxes and the deficit, though, are both functions of the government, unlike the gas price allusion.

    Morning, all!

So DD#3 doesn’t want to attend her HS graduation this evening (450+ graduates).

Is it wrong that neither Mr. TiFW or I care all that much whether she attends or not either? Are we bad people, or just “been there, done that, ehhhh whatever” folks?

Incidentally, NO other friends or family will be attending – they all live much too far away to make the trip for a ceremony on a Thursday evening, just to turn around and go back to work on Friday. (Both sets of grandparents are getting to be too old to make the trip, also)

Honestly, I was seriously debating (and feeling awful about it) whether or not I was going to be able to attend, as I can’t sit for 3+ hours in a stadium seat, then have to tromp through a huge parking lot to get to the car.

  22. Jazz June 2, 2011 at 11:01 am #

I will likely end up moving to Texas, but I do love this place. It’s beautiful here. Really. The seasons are spectacular. This city is clean, and while the city leans slightly Dem, the majority of the region is pretty conservative. The climate is nice (when it’s not winter), and there are so many things to see and do. I’ve lived here a lot of years, and I found some scenic roads to drive Sunday that I’ve driven past my entire life; I just never took the time to drive them, and what I’ve missed! Breathtakingly beautiful, bucolic scenery. And it’s minutes – less than 1000 seconds – from where I live. I will leave, but I will always love it here.

  23. Jazz June 2, 2011 at 11:06 am #

TiFW, if daughter doesn’t want to walk, I say, “Fine!” 🙂 I didn’t want to walk, either. I had the grades to be valedictorian, but I didn’t get to be valedictorian because I was a transfer student for my senior year (my grade 9-11 school closed, and the administration of my new school felt giving me the valedictorianship would have been unfair to the kid who’d attended the school for four years with that as a goal), and without that impetus, I just wasn’t motivated. The only graduation I’ve ever walked in since grade school was my law school graduation, and I only did that for my mom and dad.

Good take on Krauthammer with some pointed, well-deserved criticism of him:

Speaking the truth about current events is where Krauthammer seems to hit all the right notes. Only on very rare occasions does this maestro hit a decidedly sour note. And these false notes are starting to become glaringly tinny when Krauthammer opines on Sarah Palin. With Palin, Krauthammer’s reliable sights become suspect. He lowers himself from wise man to wise guy. He leaves his well positioned observation post to take up a sniper’s position in the mud.

Berwick also said the law makes it so states can’t prohibit access to family planning, which is provided under federal law. His department released a memo advising states that they can’t exclude abortion providers from receiving taxpayer funds via Medicaid.

Uhhh, Donny? Far be it from me to attack your little death dance, but abortion isn’t planning. Planning is what you do to prevent something from occurring. In vitro murder is what you do when you are amoral and failed to plan.

Did anyone watch the video of Grand Rapids I posted earlier? It’s on the front page at HotAir, NRO’s got an article on it (I think I linked it), and I’m hearing NPR did a story on it this morning (I wouldn’t know – I don’t listen to that tripe). It’s exciting for a smaller joint like this place. 🙂 It really is quite a cool vid, especially for being captured in one take with no visual editing.

  41. LC Aggie Sith June 2, 2011 at 12:28 pm #

Jazz, I saw the video, and liked it, but found the choice of “American Pie” to be at odds with the city refuting the claims from Newsweek that it is dying.

  42. Jazz June 2, 2011 at 12:42 pm #

I think the dichotomy of singing prematurely about the death of music on the occasion of the deaths of Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, and Richie Valens when, in fact, music DIDN’T die, ties in nicely with the premature obituary for Grand Rapids when, in fact, the city has been going through a metamorphasis, changing from a manufacturing-based city to one that centers around medical advances and intellectual property. I also thought the dirge-like quality of the music contrasted with the vibrance of the residents, sort of a visual “fuck you” to Newsweek’s dismissal of GR.

But that’s just my take. 🙂

Should a student violate the order, school district officials could find themselves in legal trouble. Judge Biery ordered that his ruling be “enforced by incarceration or other sanctions for contempt of Court if not obeyed by District official (sic) and their agents.”

Just got off the phone with Joyce, PattyAnn’s sis-in-law.

PattyAnn is still on ventilator. They tried several times today to take her off, but no go. They’ve made adjustments to the unit (lowering the volume) so that she will do more of the work and get stronger, I guess, and they’ll keep trying to take her off.

Comfort-wise, she’s not doing well. They are using less sedation while upping pain meds. This is causing her to be more uncomfortable. They are also doing a lot of treatment/therapy that’s needed, which keeps her from being able to just relax, I guess.

Been busy on some things and choosing to NOT visit today. She’s got family in visiting her right now anyway. I know some of them from out-of-town will be headed back home soon. They come first. Thanks again, everyone, for your prayers and concerns.

  71. LC Aggie Sith June 2, 2011 at 6:26 pm #

Judge Biery ordered that his ruling be “enforced by incarceration or other sanctions for contempt of Court if not obeyed by District official (sic) and their agents.”

Whatever happened to prohibiting the making of any law impeding the free exercise of religion?

Are the students at that school “agents” of the District? I’m assuming the officials can “tell” the students not to do this, and they can do as they choose.

And – really? Has the judge thought through the OPTICS of hauling all of these people to be incarcerated? For exercising THEIR First Amendment rights?

What is it someone said? “He has made his ruling – now let him enforce it.”

I kinda doubt this judge is going to find any lawmen in that part of Texas who would be willing to enforce his ruling when it comes to arresting the citizens of this town….
