Patty Ann needs your prayers

24 May

At 12:30 Central time, her daughter called me to say one of the grafts made in PA’s arteries ruptured.
The doctors have told her it doesn’t look good and Patty Ann may not make it.

We need prayers.
Also, if somebody would, please pass this to the H2.

Patty Ann, we love you and pray you’ll make it through this difficult time.
PA’s daughter promised to keep me updated.

***Update*** 5:20 pm Central Time

Back from visiting with PA’s husband, John, her daughter, Ginger and son in law.
Not sure of his name. (My bad)
Cathy was there as well.

The Surgeon came out and gave us a rundown. Cathy took notes and I’m doing this from memory. John gave me full permission to update you guys.

(1) Bottom half of the graft had failed and was infected. (Septic Shock is my main concern now, though the surgeon never specified this)
They’re trying to restore blood flow to one of her legs (don’t know which one)
They’re gonna run a temp graft from her shoulder to the leg just under the skin.
They’re testing the rest of the graft to see if it has become infected.
The surgery ahead for her is gonna be a bear.
The problems being getting large enough donor arteries from her legs or do they have to go to a cadaver.
If the original graft has to come out, and the surgeon didn’t sound real hopeful, he said out loud 20-30% chance of survival.
Whoever said 30-40% was incorrect.

The surgeons thoughts were that she’s at the bottom of a big ass hill and has a long climb ahead of her.

Teresa/Cathy combo update:

Surgeon came out and I could see by the expression on his face that this was NOT gonna be good news.

Some background first. Pattyann called her daughter this morning and asked her to help her get some prescription drugs for the pain she was having… she had called the doc and was waiting for a call back and knew that she would not be able to get the drugs herself cause she’s having problems getting around.

Her daughter came to the house and KNEW right away that something was very serious. PattyAnn’s leg was swollen, her foot was white and she looked very sick.

So they called for EMT..

They knew that she probably had vascular deterioration… Not good.

Background. PattyAnn had surgery awhile back to replace sections of her arteries leading from the heart to both her legs. One leg healed well. The other one did not.

The bad leg graft is now infected. This is very serious. Surgeon says that 70-80% of folks never survive from this.

So the surgeon thinks that ALL of the graft from her heart to the leg may need to come out… because he is concerned that the entire thing is infected.

He has been able to TEMPORARILY restore some blood flow to her leg. She also is on some pretty stiff antibiotic to combat the infection. HOWEVER they may bring in an infection specialist to help combat the infection. Also her heart rate and blood pressure have been stablized.

Surgeon says that this latest problem with the infection is merely the tip of the iceberg. They have a long road to go to restore her or keep her alive.

So the surgeon is now returning to continue more surgery. He will temporarily improve the blood flow to her leg while they decide what other options they may need to apply.

They have to decide IF the entire artery will need to be removed from the heart to her leg. If it does, then they have a couple of options to try… but neither has a high recovery rate.

  1. They will try to remove some of one of her veins… looking for a vein large enough to handle the amount of blood flow that will be required, and they will graft it in place of the diseased/infected artery. OR:
  2. They will replace the diseased artery with a cadaver artery. Problem with this option is that they have none presently available and finding a replacement will take several days.

Surgeon is going to complete this surgery by restoring blood flow to her leg temporarily from her shoulder to her leg.

They are going to use the antibiotics to stop the infection which should help her to better handle the next surgery.

They are going to keep an eye on PattyAnn and observe her for the next few days and also make a decision about which option they will choose (listed above).

So… Surgeon said that this upcoming surgery is much bigger than anything that PattyAnn has been through already… in other words, she ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.

Heart and blood pressure are stablized, and the infection will be brought under control.

IF the surgery ends up not being feasible, then PattyAnn will have to have her leg amputated. She does not want this to happen.

She’s been pretty blue lately, according to her daughter, and everyone is concerned about how she will take this.

Bottom line. If any of you morons out there are willing to, please pray for PattyAnn, her family and the medical team working with her.

Given she has only a 30-40% chance to live through this ordeal (Dick says the surgeon gave her 20-30% chance), everyone could use the prayers.

I had to gently kick some guy of this computer and I promised to keep this short. He’s sitting across the room waiting for me to get off.

So… This is it for awhile.

Please spread the word. If any of you folks have more folks you can reach to, please do.

I’ll stay here until we find out more… maybe I’ll try to visit with PattyAnn later… just playing it all by ear.

Hugs.

Just got off the phone with Cathy.
The docs are gonna place Patty Ann in a medically induced coma, which ain’t good.
She also noted that the docs are somewhat trying to encourage John to allow them to take her leg as the muscle structure within the leg has now died and it’s going to be somewhat useless.

Cathy got the chance to talk to Patty Ann, by the way. She laughed about me griping about not getting dinner.

She also thought the 2-hour Epic Andy/Wiser Cover Song Theory™ debate was pretty funny. (note from TiFW: This refers to a conversation that occurred in the parking lot of a hotel in St. Louis at the H2 meet-up over the weekend)

See, the Lord works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform.

Even a couple of drunk douchebags louldly engaged in a silly argument, might put a smile on the lips of a critically ill patient.

Just sayin’.

Hi Folks.

I’ve not read the entire thread, but I thought I’d bring you up to date on things.

BUT FIRST — THANK YOU from PattyAnn, her hubby John, daughter Ginger and Ginger’s hubby Jason (a hunk, by the way). Thank you for all your prayers. I am certain that it is efficacious.

So what has happened. John and I went up to the room. At Baylor Heart Health Hospital they take the patients back to their rooms for recovery almost immediately after leaving surgery. The rooms are very fancy and equipped with all that is needed so that is very good.

We were told by the doc that PattyAnn would be induced to keep her drugged and unable to respond much. Well… God was good. John was able to chat with PattyAnn for quite awhile. I could see her responding, nodding her head, shaking it ‘no’ occasionally and batting her eyes. All good.

So after John had some private time with his wife, I moved closer to the bed, asked permission to get close in and spent quite a bit of time over the course of the next hours chatting with PattyAnn.

We kept waiting for her to get drugged more so that she would get knocked out, but it wasn’t happening.

A couple of times, John left the room, but we told PattyAnn that he was leaving and I would stay until he returned.

(I’ve got more… but I’m gonna get out of my dress first. Yea. I put on a dress to look “official” if it would be required that I tell someone I’m a chaplain. I think it worked. I had no prob getting anywhere and I’m not family.)

The surgeon had planned to up the pain meds and such to drug PattyAnn so that she would rest and also FEEL LESS PAIN. But the good news was that as her night nurse, Joy, was asking her how much pain she felt, they were getting the sense that her pain was tolerable for her. So MAYBE they decided to not induce a coma if she was able to tolerate it. Less drugs is always better.

About the leg. The bad leg is her right one. I saw her ankle and foot, which is now still totally white. They used a little device — maybe some kind of sonogram unit — that is able to detect a pulse. The nurse was getting good strong readings (sort of a squishy liquid sound) in the left ankle, but not much to speak of in the right. This tells them that there is little to no circulation in the right foot.

She currently has a neat dealie-do covering her called a “Bair Hug” which is an inflatible air-mattress looking item that pumps warm air through it and hugs her body. This is keeping her warm. She felt kinda cold to the touch. There are lots of tubes in her right now, but she seemed okay with it and not too terribly uncomfy. Joy and I adjusted her pillow when she ‘talked’ to me about it being not as comfortable giving her neck support.

In my conversations with PattyAnn I was able to tell her many times how ALL of us are together rooting for her to get better. It made her smile when I said…that all the morons at H2, IB, Uncivil Peasants and the like are all in agreement on this… that she must get better….. PattyAnn enjoyed that.

Andy texted me to blow PattyAnn a kiss, so I went up to the bedside, got her attention and told her that the kiss I was blowing her was from Andy. She smiled and her eyes showed she was really moved by that.

I did ask her if she wanted me to pray for her and she immediately nodded a big yes. And I asked her if she wanted me to pray aloud so she could hear what I said and again… a big big nod Yes. So I did.

Later I asked if she wanted me to share some scripture. Again a big nod yes, so I did. I hugged her arm where there was no tube, which was not an easy task, and padded her shoulder, and also put my hand on her forehead. She as very receptive to all the physical contact and loved hearing news about the St.Louis Meatup, and all the little tidbits I could think of. She ate it up. AND she still has a marvelous sense of humor.

At first when I asked her if she was gonna fight this fight to live, she was sorta meh, but I kept asking her and by the time I left she agreed that she would fight hard to live. That was a very good thing, because she has the fight of her life. There are at least three major battles ahead of her.

#1 this infection can kill her at anytime
#2 the upcoming surgery to deal with the infected/diseased artery
#3 the right leg/foot must either completely heal with all muscles/tissues restored to life (which does not seem likely right now) or some or all of it must be removed.
#4 if all of this goes okay, she still has at least 2 weeks of hospitalization and a need for full recovery with her cardiac/vascular health.

If you want to send cards, letters, etc., here is the hospital’s address:
Heart Hospital Baylor Plano
1100 Allied Drive
Plano, Texas 75093
Room 304

I don’t know if she can have flowers or plants – you may want to call the hospital first (469-241-8900); ask for the 3rd floor station.

Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for Patty Ann and for all who are in need. Amid her suffering may she find consolation in Your healing presence. Show Your mercy as You close her wounds, cure her illness, make her broken body whole and free her downcast spirits. May she find lasting health and deliverance, and so join us in thanking You for all Your gifts. We ask this through the Lord Jesus, who healed those who believed.

Aggie, I asked if there was anything at all I could do for Patty Ann or the family and at this time the only thing they asked for was prayers.
PA was somewhat conscious when her daughter called and they were trying to get her into emergency surgery.

Like I said earlier, not good.

If we here were anything like my family, a few of us would now repair to the parking lot for adult beverages and, perhaps, a fistfight, while the kids stayed in the waiting room to play cards, board games, and skirmish as a few of the women-folk hovered nearby complaining in hushed tones about kids who won’t behave and husbands who spend too much time in the parking lot at solemn family events.

When my grandmother-in-law passed away, we were surrounded by the most morose people on the planet. They kept whispering and crying, and scaring the kids who were too young to deal with her passing.

The night before the funeral we were in the main living room, and my hubby’s aunt was solemnly speaking about how wonderful her mother was, and on and on, the kids sad and sickhearted. I decided that was enough, so I said, “Just think, kids!! She is already up in heaven bossing Granddaddy around!!”

Well, the kids started to smile, and soon enough they started talking about how funny granny was, and my aunt-in-law took me aside to scold me for being irreverent. I told her to stick it, because she knew damn well her mother would never want sadness in her house. She…. doesn’t speak to me often 😀

Not much is known about her condition right now; she wasn’t feeling well the past couple of days, so they went to the ER this morning. While I was talking to him, it sounded like someone was coming out to give the family an update.

Cathy and Dick are at the hospital with the family right now, and I told PA’s husband that PA has lots and lots of folks praying for her and her family right now. He said to tell all of you thank you…..

Via IM, I passed on the Puke-litico article about McCotter’s pending run for the Presidency to one of my co-workers. My co-worker’s son is a McCotter fan. Our exchange:

    [4:37:22 PM] Me: Great. http://tinyurl.com/3tethj7
[4:41:44 PM] Coworker: I’ll hear about this on Red Eye
[4:42:25 PM] Me: I’m sure you will.
[4:42:59 PM] Coworker: [My son] Dan is a big McCotter fan, too.
[4:43:42 PM] Me: Well, that’s marginally better than being a Barney Frank fan.
[4:44:19 PM] Coworker: one oughtn’t make the perfect the enemy of the good enough
[4:45:18 PM] Me: that would only matter if McCotter were good enough
[4:46:49 PM] Coworker: now, am I baiting you, or are you baiting me? I’ve lost track

HAHAHAHAHAHAH! 🙂 I love disagreements like that.

Did he make you ride on the step-side while he was driving down the highway?

    I would have.

It was a fleetside, and he only did it when Grandma didn’t know.

    That always made her nervous.

I always thought it would be a cool way to fly a kite.

  84. Jazz May 24, 2011 at 5:17 pm #

I was joking about Stuckey’s. Stuckey’s makes Waffle House look like five-star dining.

It was a fleetside, and he only did it when Grandma didn’t know.

    That always made her nervous.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

My granddad liked to drink, and granny didn’t like him to drink. So as to facilitate his imbibery, one of his favorite pastimes was to pick up my brother and me and take us to this roadside park that was next to an overpass and a stream. In the spring/summer/fall, he’d bring along an assload of M-80s and cherry bombs, and while he sat in the car drinking his beer, he’d have us throw the fireworks in the water when cars were approaching. The fireworks would blow a shit-tonne of mud and water up on the road and, not infrequently, on the passing vehicle, too.

    😀

Good times… GOOD times. God bless the Irish and their intemperate ways. 🙂

BWHAHAHAHAHAHA! He was the best granddad ever. I miss him so much. When I was five or six, he gave me a shovel, a hole to dig, and taught me army work songs chock full o’ curse words. My granny had an apoplectic fit, and my mother was less than pleased, but my dad laughed it off, and that was all that mattered.

In talking to her husband, it sounds like they were at the hospital already; if they had time to assign her a room, then that is also a good sign.

It might mean that the graft was leaking and in danger of rupturing if not treated immediately. I don’t know if that is the case, but it’s certainly one possiblity. I’m hoping that is the case…..

  115. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 5:54 pm #

    From Cathy:

We all know that PattyAnn is a fighter, so if anyone can get through this, she can….

  116. Wickedpinto May 24, 2011 at 5:55 pm #

I read the post, not the comments, I won’t believe for one minute that patty won’t make it. She’s a tough broad, it was actually kinda funny cuz Mesaw, who I know in life, was somewhat jealous of my relationship with Patty. “She’s like his fucking second mother.”

Please girl, You got it in you, I’m not praying for you, I rooting for you, Come out, I love you.

  117. Jazz May 24, 2011 at 5:56 pm #

Hey, WP – it sucks that it takes shit like this to get us together, but I’ve missed you, brother. It’s nice to see you.

  118. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 5:56 pm #

    More from Cathy:

So the surgeon thinks that ALL of the graft from her heart to the leg may need to come out… because he is concerned that the entire thing is infected.

He has been able to TEMPORARILY restore some blood flow to her leg. She also is on some pretty stiff antibiotic to combat the infection. HOWEVER they may bring in an infection specialist to help combat the infection. Also her heart rate and blood pressure have been stablized.

Surgeon says that this latest problem with the infection is merely the tip of the iceberg. They have a long road to go to restore her or keep her alive.

  119. Jazz May 24, 2011 at 5:57 pm #

    Just like meat family, no?

I’ve got to go. Praying hard ’til I get back.

  120. Wickedpinto May 24, 2011 at 6:00 pm #

Is John in contact? His name is john right? I always forgive. PA I’m sorry for the jokes Unless they made you smile.

  121. Wickedpinto May 24, 2011 at 6:02 pm #

I’ve been through this before, but I never thought PA would have been one of them this soon.

  122. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 6:03 pm #

    Continuing:

So the surgeon is now returning to continue more surgery. He will temporarily improve the blood flow to her leg while they decide what other options they may need to apply.

They have to decide IF the entire artery will need to be removed from the heart to her leg. If it does, then they have a couple of options to try… but neither has a high recovery rate.

#1 They will try to remove some of one of her veins… looking for a vein large enough to handle the amount of blood flow that will be required, and they will graft it in place of the diseased/infected artery.

    OR

#2 They will replace the diseased artery with a cadaver artery. Problem with this option is that they have none presently available and finding a replacement will take several days.

  123. Wickedpinto May 24, 2011 at 6:04 pm #

I am, litterally Crying. Hey I will pick a fight with the hulk if I think he crossed the baseline, but the thought of losing Patty this soon, hurts. At least I I got to hug her and kiss her cheek, I want her to get through this, so I can hug her and kiss her cheek again.

  124. Wickedpinto May 24, 2011 at 6:06 pm #

I’m O pos, universal donor, anyone got a plane ticket? Take my leg Teresa! I’m not using it!

  125. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 6:06 pm #

Hubby’s name is John; Cathy and Dick are at the hospital with him right now. I spoke with him briefly about an hour ago, right before the doctor came to update them. He sounded glad that there were other folks there with him, and he really appreciates everyone out in the blogosphere who is praying for their family right now.

  126. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 6:11 pm #

Take my leg Teresa! I’m not using it!

Yeah, but your heart’s still using the artery in it….

With this many people pulling for her, and as tough as she is, I just know that she is gonna make it. Just keep on praying, and we’ll find out if she can get cards, letters, flowers, food, etc. (There may be restrictions due to the risk of infection).

The other thing that the family may need is gift cards to restaurants and/or parking passes at the hospital – sounds like they are gonna be there for a while.

As people learn more, I’m sure that information will become available as to where to send stuff.

  127. Wickedpinto May 24, 2011 at 6:11 pm #

Beth is praying and hoping and wishing.

  128. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 6:13 pm #

Cathy has more, but her comments keep getting lost in the ethernet….

  129. Wickedpinto May 24, 2011 at 6:13 pm #

Yeah, but your heart’s still using the artery in it… I’m kinda not using that much either. TAKE IT!!! She’s a good girl.

  130. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 6:17 pm #

You all just know that when PattyAnn wakes up and reads all of this stuff, she’s gonna hafta get better so that she can come either kiss us or kick our butts for worrying about her so much….

Either one’s fine with me –

  131. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 6:18 pm #

  132. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 6:20 pm #

  133. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 6:21 pm #

Bottom line. If any of you morons out there are willing to, please pray for PattyAnn, her family and the medical team working with her.

Given she has only a 30-40% chance to live through this ordeal, everyone could use the prayers.

I had to gently kick some guy of this computer and I promised to keep this short. He’s sitting across the room waiting for me to get off.

  134. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 6:25 pm #

So… This is it for awhile.

Thanks. I’ll come back later and read the comments.

Please spread the word. I texted Andy, Brew, Carin, Cyn, Dave, Dick, Geezer, Geoff, Laura, Scott, Aggie, Lipstick, Michael, Teresa and Xbrad… so if any of you folks have more folks you can reach to, please do.

I’ll stay here until we find out more… maybe I’ll try to visit with PattyAnn later… just playing it all by ear.

    Hugs.

And my gut is telling me that PattyAnn is going to be OK. I have a feeling of peace about this, which is usually a good sign.

Well, if either Gates or Jobs had their way we would have “one ring to rule us all” and that concern would not exist. Though the end result would be even shittier computers and such then we have now (or more expensive if Jobs and company had won).

  152. Jewstin May 24, 2011 at 8:17 pm #

Hmm. Shittier more expensive computers with ridiculous, useless software. . .

  157. Dick May 24, 2011 at 8:35 pm #

Guy, it seems like the original work (for circulation issues) was done about six months back, or maybe a bit longer. I suck with time frames.

  158. Dick May 24, 2011 at 8:36 pm #

Guy, I’m an old-timer. Though, I’ve been mostly absent for about a year, I think Patty Ann’s health problems started last summer.

Dick, was that the stretch that went north/south between Dallas and Ft. Worth … that took em forever to complete. I was there for around eight years and it still wasn’t done when I left.

  169. Dick May 24, 2011 at 8:53 pm #

    Not interested, Michael.

In all honesty, I should’ve logged in under another name.

I was simply trying to be courteous.

  170. Dick May 24, 2011 at 8:55 pm #

Nope, that was I-30. 635 was the first serious loop around Dallas. Now they’re talking about putting in a third that goes all the way to Oklahoma.

  174. GMLand May 24, 2011 at 9:04 pm #

Just got back to the office for the evening shift and got caught up on the news. At least the doctors are offering options rather than just writing off the situation. I wager PA makes a full and complete comeback. She may not win a butt kicking contest, but I’d sub in for her.

    Get well soon dear lady.

  175. GuyS May 24, 2011 at 9:06 pm #

I thought I-30 was east to west from Ft.Worth to Dallas. Knew a gal like that road…straight, no curves!

Hell the metroplex is almost bigger than some of the 57 states!

  176. Blackiswhite, Imperial Consigliere May 24, 2011 at 9:09 pm #

Yeah, OK, but you have had my BBQ brisket and you want more. Oh yes you do.

    Yes, I do.

  177. Dick May 24, 2011 at 9:11 pm #

Sky’s dark green here. A badass tornado and and serious hail are coming.

    Good knowing you guys.

  178. GMLand May 24, 2011 at 9:13 pm #

Dick, the safest place to be in a tornado is about 15 miles from it… RUN!!!!

  179. Jewstin May 24, 2011 at 9:13 pm #

Hell the metroplex is almost bigger than some of the 57 states!

I thought Atlanta was a big city until I got here. Houston is fucking enormous. I just drove through Dallas so I can’t say much about it, but damn. Things really are bigger in Texas.

  180. GuyS May 24, 2011 at 9:15 pm #

And for all you single guys out there the gals down Texas way are hawt!!

Damn! Dark green clowds=badass hail….take cover hoss!!

I watched plenty of funnel clouds in Nebraska and drove alongside a tornado in Kansas for a while.

They still scare the bejebus out of me.

    Thanks Dick.

    😦

My dad was in a similar position. infection was moving up his leg, time was of the essence. He asked me what I thought, I told him he had no choice.

Then he was in a medically induced coma for a LOOONG time. It’s best.

My dad was given very little chance. I mean, shit, the priest met us in the waiting room.

  184. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 9:21 pm #

Weirdest thing – 1/2 block north of us, rain’s coming down like an SOB. 1/2 block south of us, it’s barely raining at all.

Now it’s hailing south of us, but not north.

And yeah, there’s a “line” of clouds right over the house…

Hell, I don’t even know what the Homeowner’s deductible is… Why? I don’t know. I’ll find out in the morning.

***Another update from Cathy just added***

  224. agiledog May 24, 2011 at 10:56 pm #

Days/Nights like tonight put things in perspective.

My wife has been fighting with a local town goverment to get permission to start a business(tonight was the Board of Selectman meeting – pompus assholes all). Untold hours of frustration and bitching. It just pales in comparison to the troubles Patty Ann and family are facing.

Add Dick and Kelly staring down the barrel of a tornado (something I haven’t had to do in 25 years). Stay safe, my friends.

I will keep Patty Ann in my thoughts tonight – she is such a bright spirit in our group(s). Why would us humans have such powers of hopes and well wishes if not to help our friends in times of trouble?

    Sigh.

  225. Dick May 24, 2011 at 10:58 pm #

Fuck, another round of asswhup is coming through.

  226. agiledog May 24, 2011 at 11:01 pm #

Looks like it is moving through North Richland Hills, Ft.Worth, and Bendbrook right now. Heading East. Though it does not look as bad as the last batch.

  237. Michael May 24, 2011 at 11:18 pm #

I’ll trade you for some tasty Halibut or Salmon.

    Hmmmm.

BiW, if you are talking about Pacific cedar plank salmon, I think we have a deal.

  238. Dick May 24, 2011 at 11:18 pm #

    Fuck. More hail.

  239. GuyS May 24, 2011 at 11:20 pm #

Seems like WFAA has really improved their weather department since I was out that way. Lots of good radar. Here is to you and Kelly being able to dodge the majority of the nasty stuff (as you said there is already hail again, I hope it is at least the small pea-sized this time aronnd).

  240. Michael May 24, 2011 at 11:21 pm #

Heading East. Though it does not look as bad as the last batch.

Yeah, dogs are scared, but it’s just normal rain and thunder right now. Earlier when the tornadoes hit this area was just plain scary.

  241. Dick May 24, 2011 at 11:23 pm #

Ping pong ball size this time. The new truck gets even more dents.
    What the hell, it’s a work truck….

  242. Blackiswhite, Imperial Consigliere May 24, 2011 at 11:23 pm #

BiW, if you are talking about Pacific cedar plank salmon, I think we have a deal.

There is only one kind of salmon: Pacific wild-caught.

Supermarkets will try to sell you farm-raised Frankensalmon or that Atlantic crap, but DO NOT BE FOOLED! ACCEPT NO IMMITATIONS!

Of course, then you have choices like, Sockeye, King, Coho, and of course, the grandaddy of them all, Copper River, which I haven’t had in years because $40.00 a pound is a bit rich for my blood.

And while cedar plank grilling is the best, I’ve been known to cheat occassionally and just wrap it in al-u-min-ium foil with some select spices, and grill it that way.

  243. Dick May 24, 2011 at 11:24 pm #

Michael, this one’s loaded with hail as well.

  244. LC Aggie Sith May 24, 2011 at 11:25 pm #

    Frankensalmon

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

  245. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX May 24, 2011 at 11:27 pm #

From Cathy at H2 (didn’t want to put this in the main post, as it has less to do with PA, and more to do with “blog family” stuff – I “editorialized” her last comment as well, before putting it in the post, for the same reason)

I had a great conversation with our Hunky Dick. He looks very good. I hope that we can all be a family again. Not sure all of us agree on what happened back some months, but Dick is a good man and I was happy that he and I could respond to the needs of PattyAnn and her family at this time.

Glad to share some hugs with you also Dick. I know John totally appreciates that you were there for as long as you could be.

  246. GuyS May 24, 2011 at 11:27 pm #

Well, time for this one to hit the rack. Stay safe Dick! Thank you all for the continued update on Patty Ann. Work comes too early, and they get cranky if you show up late.

  249. Michael May 24, 2011 at 11:30 pm #

    Jeez, we’re getting more hail.

The nice thing about a golfball sized hail storm near a tornadoe, like we got earlier, is that you have a pretty good shot at getting a new roof from you insurance company.

We went through this in Ohio a few years ago. Everybody got a new roof.

  250. Jewstin May 24, 2011 at 11:31 pm #

Like California’s earthquake, wildfire, mudslide, and high wind seasons?

She’s gonna try and head over to the hospital again tomorrow; don’t know if PattyAnn will be allowed any “civilian” visitors for a while yet – Cathy has the “chaplain” designation that I am sure the family is happy to be able to take advantage of (lucky for us!).
