So, I read about this yesterday, and it’s making more news today.

Two former leaders of the Oakland County Democratic Party are facing a total of nine felonies for allegedly forging election paperwork to get fake Tea Party candidates on November’s ballot.

The post at AoSHQ makes mention of this fact, and it’s true and it’s important: The men held their executive positions in the MI Democratic Party when they committed these offenses. They weren’t “former Democratic Party” officials when they concocted and carried out their misguided plan. To clarify further, when the men carried out their scheme, they did so to further the ends of the Michigan Democratic Party; it would be not awfully hard to argue that the men were acting on behalf of the party, i.e., that they made the Party a party to the commission of felonies. To make it crystal clear: The Michigan Democratic Party participated in the commission of felonies. The perpetrators may bear individual responsibility, too, but they’ve made the Party a bad actor in the commission of felonies.

All to be proven in court, of course. And of course, this being Michigan, no one would dare actually put the Party on trial.

  64. PattyAnn March 17, 2011 at 10:46 am #

And I seriously hope that something breaks in MI and these bastards get serious jailtime, and the Dem Party of MI gets fined beyond the scope of their finances.

Governor Rick Snyder is taking Michigan back for the good guys a little at a time. This is from WXYZ, a Detroit (read “liberal”) TV station:

Governor Rick Snyder has signed a bill giving broad new powers to emergency financial managers.

The managers are appointed by the state of Michigan to run struggling cities and schools, and are granted the ability to terminate union contracts.

The bill was signed as thousands of union protesters rallied inside and outside the Capitol in protest.

The Messenger is bird-cage liner, but the story is hilarious!

Michigan State Police Capt. Gary Nix says troopers arrested 11 people Wednesday night during protests at the state Capitol.

All who were arrested will be charged with trespassing, and one faces a felony charge of obstructing a police officer. Nix said the details of the felony case were not completely clear but revolved around that person opening a bathroom window on the ground floor of the Capitol in a move to allow other protesters in.

Governor Rick Snyder has signed a bill giving broad new powers to emergency financial managers.

The managers are appointed by the state of Michigan to run struggling cities and schools, and are granted the ability to terminate union contracts.

Fine in the short term, but what happens when a Democrat gets elected down the road? Those emergency financial managers are UNELECTED employees (not unlike the EPA), which gives them lots of unaccountable powers for as long as a party is in power….

It’s just one more layer of bureaucracy, and it gets the state one step closer to central planning. They mean well, but this can get out of hand in just a few years –

  83. LC Aggie Sith March 17, 2011 at 1:00 pm #

Democrats don’t appoint emergency managers, TiFW. There are criteria to be met before managers can be appointed, and Democrats are supposedly loathe to negate the people’s will. Michigan governors can’t just unilaterally appoint emergency managers; procedures and protocol must be followed. I’m completely fine with the Act.

    Here’s a summary of the Act’s implications: http://tinyurl.com/6ejbxxq

Wiener is by far one of the rudest members of Congress. He gives Alan Grayson a run for him money.

But unlike Grayson, you look at him and think of the kid in school who wouldn’t quit mouthing off, even after someone had reduced him to a blood smear on the sidewalk.

With Grayson, I always look at him, and think that some home for the criminally insane is missing one of its worst inmates.

  105. Jazz March 17, 2011 at 2:56 pm #

You’re right, Carin – Granholm appointed Bob Bobb in Detroit. Hazel Highland Park has been under emergency management, and will be again. My comment about “Democrats don’t appoint emergency managers” was meant stereotypically. They’ll do it, but only under duress. I’m not as forgiving as a douchebag Democrat – if you run your public charge into the ground, you don’t get umpteen chances to reverse my opinion about you.

  107. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX March 17, 2011 at 3:36 pm #

Barky can’t be happy about this – a school named after him is going to be shut down in New Jersey:
    http://michellemalkin.com/2011/03/17/mmm-mmm-mmm-nj-shuts-down-barack-obama-elementary-school/

Reader Peter adds: “Asbury Park’s school system was taken over by the state of New Jersey a few years back (along with those of other underachieving municipalities) for gross managerial incompetence. The state has, in the meantime, poured beaucoups bucks into the district. According to Education.com, the district spends nearly $36,000 per student but pulls in the lowest test rating the site offers.”

$36,000 PER STUDENT??????? That’s almost as much as we’re spending for DD#3 to go to a PRIVATE University next year; heck, it’s over $10,000 more than it’s costing us to send DD#2 to a PUBLIC University here in Texas.

And that school district has the LOWEST test ratings in the State?

    Jazz, I saw that.

Of course there was already too much in the way of uncomfortable facts there For both my cousin and my friend, so they went silent on that approach. One of them is now lamenting this instead:

    Yep – http://althouse.blogspot.com/2011/03/union-thuggery-against-althouse-and.html

These people THINK they are in the majority, but they forget that the Dems were voted out of power OVERWHELMINGLY in the last election. People are pissed, and this is going to come back to bite them in the ass if they’re not careful…

That’s why that bully video resonated with so many people – we’ve taken about as much as we are going to take, and the body slam is comin’….

How’s work?? How’s Hubby?? How was dress shopping?? And how are the piggies???

    Take your time…

  145. beasn March 17, 2011 at 9:54 pm #

    Hi Aggie.

Work sucks. The coworker and I didn’t kill each other and even though we didn’t talk much, we did get stuff done. We have half as many people as we did the same time last year and management keeps coming by demanding shit. Affirmative action, they are that stupid. Swirling the bowl.

Husband taking one day at a time. Getting a paycheck is a good thing. In this commie economy, is a must.

Dress shopping was tiring and somewhat disappointing. Lots of the dresses look like they were made for hookers. We made the mistake and looked at the ones available at Nordstroms. Then she tried them on. Then she wanted to cry. We found one that was unique and classy and timeless. It was strapless, but made so well, that there was no way in heck she would have to keep hiking the thing up. It was blush colored and had some subtle sparkle under a lace overlay of some sort. Can’t find a picture of it anywhere and she doesn’t know how to download it from her phone. It fit her, as in the style, to a ‘T’.

But, it was $400 and we cannot justify spending that kind of money on something she will wear for four hours. Though she did say she would wear it around the house.

So, we settled on a $70 one from Penneys. It is nice but not as beautiful nice as the pricey one.

The piggies, I don’t know. Will be taking Lincoln in everyday for a subcue because I’m too chicken to do it myself. Not sure he will be able to pass the stones and I’m kicking myself for not insisting he get the xray a week sooner when I saw subtle signs of something amiss.
And George is not acting right. Will have to take him in to see if his stones returned and discuss what else he could take for the URI after the Baytril blew his plumbing to shits.

Speaking of which, it is time to clean out the cages and tuck them in. I may check in later.

How’re you doing? How’s the kids?

  146. PattyAnn March 17, 2011 at 10:20 pm #

So fucking mad, I could and would kill.
    John’s hitching a ride home with a co-worker. Some low-life asshole stole John’s truck.

  147. LC Aggie Sith March 17, 2011 at 10:21 pm #

I’m doing fine, as are the kids. Hubby gets to enjoy the weekend scuba diving in the Red Sea. I get to enjoy cleaning house 😉

I’m sorry to hear about the piggies. I do hope things work out with them, and know you must be hurting over them right now. Sending prayers!!

As to the dress…I can understand. Eldest needed a dress for the military ball, and really, REALLY wanted one she saw at White House Black Market. I just couldn’t justify paying $200 for a semi-formal she was going to wear a few hours. Went to Bealls, and found one on the clearance rack for $30. And sure enough, she never wore it again. This too, shall pass 😉

  149. PattyAnn March 17, 2011 at 10:25 pm #

Thanks, Aggie, me too. You work hard, pay off a vehicle, take excellent care of it because you know it has to last you and then someone comes along and steals it. And it wasn’t even new–just looked it. It was ten years old. Why the hell couldn’t they steal a Prius?

  150. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX March 17, 2011 at 10:26 pm #

Oh gosh, PattyAnn – that’s awful! When did this happen and where? We’ve had our vehicles broken into, which is no fun but I can’t imagine what it must feel like to have one stolen.

Is there anything we can do? I live in Fort Worth, so I’m reasonably close if you need anything –

I guess they have better taste?

  152. Dick March 17, 2011 at 10:39 pm #

Patty Ann, pull it up on Edmonds, NADA, and Kelly Blue Book. Make sure mileage and condition match.
Demand your insurance company pay full retail plus TT&L.
That’s Texas law and too fucking many insurance companies try to skirt it.

  153. PattyAnn March 17, 2011 at 10:53 pm #

Thanks, Teresa, but we’ll be okay. I’ll get a little rental piece of junk through the insurance.

Dick, the sad thing is there’s no way we can get anything in as good as condition as that truck was for the blue book value and it was low mileage. It’s had all it’s maintenance, new expensive tires, regular oil changes…

  155. Car in March 18, 2011 at 6:56 am #

that’s the thing that sucks for us too, PA. The car had a ton of miles on it, but it was paid off and in good shape. Mr Car IN drives a lot … so it just worked well for us.

Then someone hits him, totals the car and because it’s a no fault state we’re shit out of luck. We only had collision on it.

Car is just gone. No monetary recourse. It as if someone stole the car. Same difference.

the guy who hit him was having some sort of out-of-body road rage or something. He was stark raving mad. NOT at Mr. Car In. At the guy driving next to him. Although he had done NOTHING wrong.

    The dude was crazy.

  156. Car in March 18, 2011 at 6:57 am #

Around here, well, in Detroit, I know they steal things like vans (full sized) because then they can go steal shit.
