Why Thursdays shouldn’t suck

3 Mar

The newest book is coming along.

As Carin likes to say, “Wakey, Wakey!”

Ya got to love Google’s childlike honesty. Oops!

I wonder what Eric Holder is doing today?

Have a wonderful day today!

    Good morning, you dirty peasants.

  11. Jazz March 3, 2011 at 10:24 am #

    How surprising!

A lot of politicians give nicknames to their aides. George W. Bush famously referred to his attorney general, Alberto Gonzalez, as “Fredo.” Mitch Daniels, then head of the Office of Management and Budget, was known as “The Blade.” Barack Obama reportedly called Larry Summers, his chief economic advisor, “Dr. Kevorkian.”

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas also hands out nicknames to the people who work for her. The Houston Democrat addressed one of her employees as “you stupid motherfucker.” And not just once, but “constantly,” recalls the staffer, “like, all the time.”

Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these courageous couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.*

he Republican-controlled House opened the envelope of postal finances on Wednesday and what it pulled out wasn’t pretty.
Unless things change, the post office will run out of money by the end of the fiscal year in October, Postmaster General Patrick R. Donahoe told the House Oversight subcommittee on the postal service.
Donahoe said that as of Sept. 30 his agency will owe the federal government a payment of $5.5 billion to fund medical costs, in advance, for future retirees, and in November it will need to make a $1.3 billion payment for worker’s compensation.
“The Postal Service will not have the cash available to make both of these payments. We need legislation this year to address that fact,” he said.
If it does come down to crunch time, said Donahoe: “We will deliver the mail.” Employees will be paid, as will suppliers, he said. “The thing we will not do is pay the federal government.”

    * – The Greek historian Herodotus said this during the war between the Greeks and Persians in about 500 B.C. in reference to the Persian mounted postal couriers whom he observed and held in high esteem. Most of us have heard this postal carriers’ motto in one form or another. One popular version is “Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep the postmen from their appointed rounds”.

    Fucking Lightworker.

In May 2010, [Obama] told guests at a private White House dinner that race was probably a key component in the rising opposition to his presidency from conservatives, especially right-wing activists in the anti-incumbent “Tea Party” movement that was then surging across the country. Many middle-class and working-class whites felt aggrieved and resentful that the federal government was helping other groups, including bankers, automakers, irresponsible people who had defaulted on their mortgages, and the poor, but wasn’t helping them nearly enough, he said.

A guest suggested that when Tea Party activists said they wanted to “take back” their country, their real motivation was to stir up anger and anxiety at having a black president, and Obama didn’t dispute the idea. He agreed that there was a “subterranean agenda” in the anti-Obama movement—a racially biased one—that was unfortunate. But he sadly conceded that there was little he could do about it.

  14. clintbird March 3, 2011 at 10:56 am #

I guess that’s why a recent Tea Party straw poll saw Herman Cain coming out on top.

FUCK YOU Barry S., you fraudulent, communist, race baiting, twatnozzling piece of monkey sucking shit!

Hahahahahahah! Glow-ball warm my nads, you agenda-driven fuckers.

Peruse Chevrolet’s February sales release, and you’ll notice one number that’s blatantly missing: the number of Chevy Volts sold. The number – a very modest 281 – is available in the company’s detailed data (PDF), but it certainly isn’t something that GM wants to highlight, apparently. Keeping the number quiet is a bit understandable, since it’s lower than the 321 that Chevy sold in January.

Nissan doesn’t have anything to brag about here, either (and it didn’t avoiding any mention of the Leaf sales in its press release). Why? Well, back in January, the company sold 87 Leafs. In February? Just 67. Where does that leave us? Well, here’s the big scorecard for all sales of these vehicles thus far:
    Volt: 928
    Leaf: 173

173??? That justifies r&d for theis car? HAHAHAHAHAH! Stupid, stupid fuckers.

  30. PattyAnn March 3, 2011 at 12:45 pm #

J’Ames, the menu is: Jambalaya, Shrimp Poboys, Crawfish Etouffee, Shrimp boil, Red Beans and Rice, Fried alligator and King Cake.
Libations are Hurricanes, beer, chicory coffee, sweet tea.

I’m going to try to eat some of everything. I’m going to try to drink everything.

Their used to be a Frederick’s of Hollywood store in almost every Houston mall. Someone told me that.

  31. Jazz March 3, 2011 at 12:54 pm #

Jambalaya over good rice and crawfish etouffe are gustatory delights.

Found some good Google Chrome extensions. ChromeMUSE is a good URL shortener – it instantly converts the URL in your address bar to a tinyURL (or other shortener) address and copies the new addy to your clipboard. It’s much better than the piece of crap extension I was using yesterday.

  40. Dick March 3, 2011 at 1:53 pm #

To be fair to the Volt and the Nissan Leaf, both companies are going through the normal start up pains as they would with any new model, which is the only reason sales on those two models are slow.
Give ’em a few months to hammer out the quirks and ramp up production.

With all that said, I still wouldn’t buy either vehicle.

  41. Dick March 3, 2011 at 2:15 pm #

    Afternoon perverts and miscreants!

I’m treating my man right tonight (SYWM) – pot roast, au gratin potatoes and broccoli.

We both get to sleep in a little later than usual tomorrow morning – it’s an “off” Friday for Mr. TiFW (even though he’s going in to work) and the girl’s school opens an hour late in the morning.

Well, Aggie I’m HOPING we can sleep in – it sure does seem like on those days that Becca’s internal clock resets itself, and she gets up extra-special early….

And as much as we love her to pieces, Mr. TiFW and I were both thinking that if we hadn’t had her, we’d be getting ready to have the whole house to ourselves come September!

Oh, well – we wouldn’t trade her (or the experience) for the world. Who needs sl…
