I’m Not in the Best Mood…

23 Feb

News this week has not helped to put me in a better frame of mind. Four Americans are killed by pirates, and our Navy is hindered by ROE and a commander in chief that is at best, indifferent. Thoughts like that keep me awake at night.

But they will never shake my faith in my God, or my countrymen.

    Hey! Double poat toasties here.

Yesterday, my thought was Obama REAALY fucking sucks as prezzident. Gas hits $3.50, pirates kill Americans, his party memebers on a state level FLEE rather than make choices the fucking cry babies don’t like and he puts himself as chief community organizer of the fucking socialists/communists marching in the streets.

yea. I’m in a bad mood.

I’m just barely old enough to remember the Carter administration. I do remember the dour adults around me, the cynicism, the dark humor when people laughed at the bad times, and many references to “the good old days”. I think the biggest difference is racism, i.e. if Obama were white, he’d be lucky to have 30% approval right now.

  4. Car in February 23, 2011 at 7:55 am #

Yep. And people certainly wouldn’t be saying taht he has a good chance of being reelected.

Yesterday at the gym, there were a few teachers grumping around about the budget. Synder says he’s cutting per-pupil funding by over $400.

And you know what? I don’t care. For YEARS they’ve been living the gravy train. Refusing to make any concessions. Money for education – shit Obama’s still banging that drum.

Despite the fact that more money does not equal better results.

We are paying for a mediocre product and they want more.

  6. leoncaruthers February 23, 2011 at 8:00 am #

Per-pupil expenditures have exploded in the last 20 years, performance is stagnant. Clearly, more money doesn’t improve the only metric I care about. Cut a bunch of admin staff and outsource custodial work to a lowest bidder. Budget fixed.

WSJ on the Obama FAIL in Libya.

It isn’t often that an Administration has an opportunity to take decisive steps against a longstanding American enemy in ways that are moral, internationally popular and in the national interest. Nor is it often that the U.S. and its European allies have such a common and compelling interest in stopping a bloodbath, preventing a refugee crisis, improving energy security and putting an end to a long-time threat to international law and order.

So what is Obama doing? Going to the UN. They’re going to write a strongly worded letter of condemnation.

  8. Car in February 23, 2011 at 8:03 am #

Yep. Put off buying new books for a few years.

Anytime those union teachers feel the urge, they’re more than welcome to come work with me.

    Morning Carin.

    Wakey fuckin’ wakey.

Sorry for the dour poat this AM. Oh, and the reason for CB’s comment is that we did a poat at the same time 🙂

On the bright side, I’m drinking coffee.

Bwahahahahaha! It’s that kind of day already, huh?

  12. PattyAnn February 23, 2011 at 8:50 am #

What’s up? I’m in a dour mood myself.
Fucking crooked politicians, fucking crooked judges. I’m weary from it all.

Speaking of admin staff at schools, I still remember not 25 years ago (whimper), our high school had a principal, a vice pricipal, a secretary, a nurse, and three counselors (one per grade; my HS was 10th, 11th, and 12th grades only). My class alone had 715 students, and yet, they managed.

My son’s Jr. High has a principal, four vice principals, three counselors (though it’s only 7th and 8th grades), a diversity counselor, a counselor specializing in “women’s studies”, five secretaries, and two ESL specialists on call.

I can’t even begin to count the amount of admin staff at the HS level. It’s disgraceful.

  14. LC Aggie Sith February 23, 2011 at 8:53 am #

Yes, Roamy, that kind of day 😀

PattyAnn, same deal here. Politicians, school administrations, etc.

    I don’t think there’s enough coffee for today 😉

  15. PattyAnn February 23, 2011 at 8:53 am #

Haha, Aggie, John and I were just having that same conversation as you were posting your thoughts about school admin.

  16. LC Aggie Sith February 23, 2011 at 8:54 am #

Oh, and MAJOR props to whoever thought of the “where’s my apron?” tag. That made my day 😀

  17. roamingfirehydrant February 23, 2011 at 8:54 am #

Aggie, that’s what I like about my kids’ private schools. Principal, one vice principal, one secretary, one counselor (not really sure what she does, but okay), and one nun at Mini-me’s school, which is Pre-K through 8. Fear the nun.

I’m seriously thinking of moving the little one to a Catholic school, Roamy. The other two will go to the HS, since they have the only IB program here.

PattyAnn, great minds… at least, great minds not in the gutter, anyway!!

The good thing is that the grumbling about Carter didn’t start until MUCH later in his administration. But yeah, people were PISSED – that was the first presidential election I was eligible to vote in, and I still remember the line stretching OUT THE DOOR of the junior high gym when I went to vote.

There were just as many booths as every other time, but there had never been that many people waiting to vote EVER in the memories of those working the election.

I read the other day that even CARTER thinks Obama’s screwing up in the Middle East. Of course, I’m not sure anyone could thread this needle, but the only reason all of this unrest is happening is because the protesters recognize that the CIC is a pussy.

There have been some rumblings that some US factions (Unions, Socialist Party, Soros organizations, etc.) are “helping” get these revolts organized. WHY, I don’t know – I guess they think they’re going to be able to be in charge when the dust settles.

    Idiots….

  21. LC Aggie Sith February 23, 2011 at 8:59 am #

    LMAO, Roamy 😀

  22. roamingfirehydrant February 23, 2011 at 9:01 am #

Off to work for me. Squishy hugs, and y’all have a good day!

**sets up another pot of coffee

  23. LC Aggie Sith February 23, 2011 at 9:05 am #

Of course they think they’ll be in charge, Teresa. That’s the whole point of the organized chaos.

Unfortunately, they are operating under the assumption that everyone thinks and acts like they do. It will backfire badly, IMO.

Stinky was fortunate that he was able to attend one of the highest rated high public schools in Texas, Rockwall HS. It paid off a dozen times over.

  26. Dick February 23, 2011 at 9:07 am #

Be good, Roamy and have a great day.

  27. Teresa in Fort Worth, TX February 23, 2011 at 9:17 am #

Dick, one of our nephews graduated from Rockwall HS last year. I don’t think he was there the whole 4 years, though – his mom remarried and moved there.

I can’t even begin to count the amount of admin staff at the HS level. It’s disgraceful.

And the only solution to the budget problem is to lay off teachers, police, and fire fighters.

Yeah, that’s it. Makes perfect sense. (do I need the /sarcasm tag?)

  29. LC Aggie Sith February 23, 2011 at 9:25 am #

No, no sarc tag needed, J’Ames…not at all!!

A harbinger of things to come here? MSNBC: ‘I won’t pay’ movement spreads across Greece

They (taxpayers, not the protesters) have already paid their share, so now everything is free? This won’t end well.

    J’Ames, from your link:

“Now, with the crisis as an alibi … the freeloaders don’t hide. They appear publicly and proudly and act like heroes of civil disobedience. Something like Rosa Parks or Mahatma Gandhi,” Gousetis wrote. “They’re not satisfied with not paying themselves. They are forcing others to follow them.”

The thing is, Greece has always been very socialist, so much so that it’s just a thin disguise for the communism. This has been in the works for years, well before they became part of the EU. The EU, for its part, was only interested in supplanting the US as a world power at any cost, so they chose to ignore it.

Now it’s coming to bite the Greeks in the ass, and they have no clue as to how to start breaking the cycle of communist aggression.

    Aggie, I hear ya.

I was watching the news last night to get the latest on the coming SNOWPOCALYPSE and they were talking about the pirates, because two of the four Americans killed were from Seattle.

The paid reader was decribing the scene, with the gunfire on the yacht and the pirates leaveing, and I followed it with “…and the Navy made short work of their craft, sending it to the bottom with one shot, then strafing the bodies in the water and quickly hanging the scumbags they had in custody…What? No?”

I haven’t had a look of pity like that from the Mrs. since the last time I actually expected a little sumthin’-sumthin’.

  36. Blackiswhite, Imperial Consigliere February 23, 2011 at 10:49 am #

And then listening to Beck this morning talking about $220 a barrel oil?

Yeah. I’m in a great mood.

I’m just oil enough that I can remember a time when keeping society powered was more important that protecting the habitat of the Gulf Whale Humping Lamprey and the Alaskan Caribou Tick.

I’m just old enough that I can remember when food was for eating, not for fuel.

I’m just old enough to remember when our military was still charged with maintaining our security and protection, rather than a nebulous and dubious pursuit like “international law”.

I’m just old enough to remember when our leaders offered leadership, and didn’t just “bear witness” to cold blooded killing and cheerlead for those who want to see dead Americans.

I’m just old enough to look at current events and get the idea that we really are fucked when the stuff that’s coming gets here.

Since “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was eliminated, apparently there’s been a noticeable shift to powdered bath soap amongst some military groups. Seems it takes MUCH longer to pick up when dropped on the shower floor.
